Here are the best of my shots this week. All were taken with my Iphone and processed using Instagram. Check them out, and let me know what you think! There’s a poll below, take a sec and vote for your fave!
Well, that’s about it for this week. Cast your vote in the poll below! And drop me a line, let me know why you dug it. Any tips would be appreciated as well…all you pros out there, show an amateur some love!
BTW last week’s winner was “Musashi Kosugi tracks number 1!”
Who is this guy, Loco, anyway? Click here!
PS: Did you dig them? Check out my previous shots…some are pretty damn good. The rest are magnificent (-;

Raw Like Sushi
I voted for the Jiyugaoka Alley – Night because I thought the grainy texture made it feel like an old photo you just found laying in the alley. Like the elements had messed it up and almost ruined it. But I also like Musashi Kosugi tracks Number 2. Maybe I have a thing for trains?? I just liked the composition and the coloring.
Thanks April! Yeah I kinda dig that Jiyugaoka alley too. I pas through it quite often and have grown quite fond of it. Yeah and I dig trains too (-;
Damn that girls skirt is SHORT! And I mean even short for Japan.
Hey CJ! This from the hot pants queen (-;
Yeah, it is pretty short though isn’t it? Thanks for the shout!
Hot pants queen?! I never! :O!
Clearly somewhere along the way the girl lost her actual skirt and all she had left was that frilly belt…right?
Shibuya…girl on right with the “fuck me” heels
Ah, shoulda popped in last week, which was full of winners and had a recurring theme of lots of solid lines and defined compositions that remind me of Soviet art. This pops up again on Musashi Kosugi High Rises and the Eye of Hiyoshi shot. The Shinagawa Station shot seems to want to go for this too but you’re at a high angle which makes the lines a bit less straight than they otherwise would be.
For the next go-around, I’d say try to stay away from eye-level shots and go for slightly above or below. Low-angle shots work well for creating a sense of perspective and depth (perhaps a bit easier on a big camera/lens but even the iPhone you’ll see a difference). Don’t be afraid to get on your knees to take an okay shot into a good if not great one.
For this go-around, I voted for Woman on Train because I liked the immediate nature of it and the way everything kind of comes together in the framing of it.
Woman watching…has me wondering whose watch is worn and what is seen, how it all looks after all of that time. Had you not pointed that out in the title,
I would not have noticed that the passenger is a woman.
I’m feeling Woman on Train, its seems like the perfect example of the “I’m pretending you dont exist and there is something really interesting on the other side train” attitude that you’ve written about coming across in the past.
I picked musashi kosugi tracks 2, because I like the colours.
