You Heard It Here First! It’s Official: Loco is…

Before I finish that sentence, first an unsolicited plug for my man, Kojoe!! This cat is hot!! Lit my Black & Mild with his index finger, he did!

And don’t miss his upcoming Album Listening Party this Saturday Night, click here for more details!  I heard the track from the pic above, called “No Idea” (with the great Talib Kweli) and it’s straight SICK, instant classic!!

Naturally, your boy Loco will be in da house supporting my nihonbro (and Pimping my Prose on the sly!) Come on through! Let me know ahead of time if you want a copy and I’ll hit you off!

I’m just sayin… (-;

And now that we’ve got the shameless Tomodachi and Jibun no promotion out of the way, on to…wait, more self-promotion?

…Only this time via some very happy readers! A few of the people who bought and received the 50 first print run autographed copies!

As serendipity would have it, the first copy went to long time reader and supporter of Loco in Yokohama, the fabulous and beautiful scholar formerly known as the Workaholic Hostess. Congrats Saboten! Love you, boo!

My 1st Autograph!
 And here are a just a few of the others who have blessed Loco with their patronage, and are ever so glad they did!

And now to finish that title sentence…

On the strength of rave reviews, tweets galore, engaging interviews, supportive friends, word of mouth, and the love of satisfied customers like those pictured above, you heard it here first: it’s OFFICIAL!!

Loco is BIG in Japan!

I’ll be getting another shipment of books in soon so don’t fret if you haven’t ordered yours, yet. Just holler at me in a comment below or via email (locohama7 at gmail dot com) and I’ll set you up with your own autographed copy!

It’s about time you found out for yourself why readers are so enthusiastic! And, at the same time, help a struggling writer quit his day job and do what he’s meant to be doing on a full-time basis: writing the best damn books I can!

And, please, if you’ve read the book (and apparently hundreds have) please, please, PLEASE take a moment to share your thoughts on the Book’s Amazon Page! Good or Bad is not important. Why you didn’t like the book is as important to me (and to readers) as why you did.  Even a couple of sentences helps.

Or if you’re shy about Amazon, just drop a few lines below so visitors here can know what time it is!

I can’t stress the importance of this enough!

Think of it this way: Like it or not, Amazon is a King Maker in the publishing world! Having a wonderful product is only the beginning…the hard part is getting readers to know about the product and, unlike days past when the NY Times, Publisher’s Weekly and the likes were the only gatekeepers, Amazon has arranged it — democratically, some might say — so that reader reviews go a LONG way toward gate crashing!

So help me crash the gate and drop a few lines!

Loco

And there’s even BIGGER news on the horizon (but I don’t want to jinx it so I’m gonna hold that thought til a later date!)

And THANK YOU ALL!!!

This is a special request for my girl Daisha (-;

    I’m so happy for you, Baye. You deserve all of this success and so much more. It’s so often the case that people without talent get fame or success and those with it are ignored. It seems in your case that there is also just reward for those who have actual talent. Congratulations, and I’ll be looking forward to the further big news!

    (I knew that my autographed copy of your book would be worth something some day, and I’m even more sure of that now!)

    • Locohama

      Thank you Orchid!! And I sincerely hope you’re right! Time to take this show on the road (-;

    Hey Loco!! Super congratulations!! :)

    I haven’t read it, yet, in book form — but I bought it the day it was available on Kindle. I read the blog posts — basically in one sitting. I found them while I was in Japan as a tourist. I think I’ve told you that story before.

    Anyway, I am *so* glad you’re having such success!

    • Locohama

      Thanks Jen! Well, whatcha waiting for? Go ahead and read it. It ain’t gonna bite you lol and it’s much more than the blog post you’ve read, trust.me!

    great news Loco. I am enjoying my signed copy of your book.
    I’ll send you a photo too some time.

    • Locohama

      Hey Jon! Thanks and I’ll be looking for that pic! Probably make another gallery post, and still working on the collage (-;

    I’m holding off on buying so I’ve something good to read on my long and ardous plane trip. If I buy it now, I’ll read it before then.

    • Locohama

      I hear you, Kathryn! Just let me know when you’re ready! And thanks!!

    I like Sabotens “Ghetto” T.V. :)
    I don’t know how you did the Dotonbori pic but it is cool as fuck!!

    I have dropped more comments on this site than anywhere else…it’s not even close. The series the book is based on is one of the reasons why. I only wish you could hit rewind…gather all these readers of the book and drop them in the site like a “Hot” L.Z. in Nam.
    Duck….DUUUUCK!!!

    Man…that was some fun!!!!! Still the best series I have ever read on the internet J-web or otherwise.

    • Locohama

      Actually I don’t know how they did it either…guess I must be huge in Osaka lol Thanks Chris! Yeah Man, those were good times! Of course I found myself on several occasions shouting into a radio set: “Bravo 1-2-6, ADJUST YOUR FIRE, ADJUST YOUR FIRE!!!” LMAO!!

    Woooow, Sounds of Blackness brings back some great memories, and is a great accompaniment to this post. I’m glad things are just getting better and better for you and your book. I’m definitely going to try to get my hands on a copy soon :)
    Keep up this awesome momentum!♪

    • Locohama

      Thanks Alyse!! Yeah SOB is a song that keeps me pumped and positive (amid unrelenting negativity) So indebted to those songwriters. Words are powerful. Music is magical!

    Well, Big Man, seeing as you asked so nicely –

    http://fightstart.blogspot.com/2012/03/hi-my-name-is-loco-and-i-am-racist.html

    I always feel a little cheesy shilling my own blog on other people’s, but it’s too long to c+p to the comments here. If you want to take this as just a personal head’s up and moderate this out, that’s fine.

    It’s genuinely heartening to see it working out for you. Keep at it man. Good for you, good for us, everyone’s a winner.

    • Locohama

      “Everyone’s a winner.” Got that right! Couldn’t have said it better. And why would I want to moderate your review out? I have put myself out there, as I have been doing via this blog for years (with only minor troll moderating) and I know the book is not perfect. Any words that will help towards making a better book next time or improving later editions of this book are welcomed, of course! Thanks for taking out the time to do so! You are a blessing!

    Naturally, I have been feelin’ guilty about coming to your site and not leaving a comment (your boy Chris ensured that). But I want to let you know that your one of main reasons I will be going to Japan this summer (I am half black, and your blog was one of the first blogs I came across that was brutally honesty), and I will definitely be buying a copy of your book. If I am in the Yokohama area this summer I will definitely come to one of your book signings or meet-ups. Anyways, thanks for your commitment to solid content and I am happy for your recent success. I am definitely sorry I haven’t commented sooner, but wanted you to know I have enjoyed your blog for the past eight months. Your writing is eloquent, concise, and I appreciate that.

  • http://whoa-im-in-japan.com Amanda

    Yes!! Do the damn thing :D . This is shaping up to be a beautiful success story. I’m really glad to see so many people have fallen in love with your book — that people are actually *getting* it (as in understanding it), and that your work is reaching a wider audience now. I truly wish you all the success you can stomach lol.

  • Max

    Gee Guy, you even have your own neon billboard. No Loco, that is a canal not an open sewer! The Book is good reading! Enjoyed it!

  • http://theghostletters.blogspot.com/ freedomwv

    It is good to hear that the book project is going very well. If you can sale 4,000 copies of this book then you might be able to quit your day job and focus more of writing. The book has proven to be one hell of a read in my opinion. It touches on so many thing I have experienced myself living in Japan. When you really let it rip you are a damn good writer. I look forward to when you publish the next book.

    Is there any chance of another book signing happening, and maybe setting up an email notification type thing if you do? My wife is still dragging her heels about us upgrading to smart phones, and since I moved to Kawasaki her grandmother looks me daggers any time I’m on my PC, so I miss things a lot more than I used to >.<
