Well, the wait is almost over! Thanks for your patience everyone.
First a little mood music by that legendary group, Shalamar (-;
Yep, it’s the second time around for your boy! And, like I did with the first unveiling, I’d like to say a little prayer to the Creator to set things off:
Thank you, lord, for giving me everything I need to be the best human I can be — Good health, a sound mind capable of making the best of the gifts and talents you’ve bestown upon me, the wherewithal to minimize the disabling impact of my abundant imperfections, a heart brimming with optimism to do battle with the chasm of cynicism and negativity that threatens to engulf me daily, confidence to combat the doubts that occasionally pang me, and enough love to keep hate at bay (most of the time) — Who could ask for anything more? I guess I can. Please, lord, guide me in the direction best suited for me to achieve my dreams, and through me inspire others to pursue and ultimately achieve theirs. Guide me toward truth and prepare me to handle that truth if I should arrive at it.
Okay, with that said, here we go:
Ain’t she puuuuurty? (-:
This time around though, the exceptional cover design was done by my beautiful and talented darling Miki.
Thanks guys! I’m so thrilled to be associated with your sensational styling!
And so, after more work than I’d imagined it would be, the countdown has begun to the release of my second book, Loco in Yokohama.
RELEASE DATE: September 30th 2013
And what better way to get the ball rolling than with a contest, right? So, are you looking to get your hands on one of THREE (3) autographed copies of my new book?
Of course you are (=
It’s really simple:
SHARE! SHARE! SHARE!
Share what, you ask? Why, share this post, of course. Or, share the book cover. Let your friends and followers know that Book Two is on the way! You can do so on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ (but please CC / @ me, so when you do so I’ll have a record of your having shared it,) or even on your blog (please re-post or link to this post if you do) and you’re automatically entered for a chance to win!
And to make sure I’m aware of your entry, please leave a comment below with the info on what you’ve done.
This includes Tweets, Re-Tweets, SHARES on FB (not just “Likes”), posts on Google+ or most any other major social media sharing site (Pinterest, Redditt, Instagram, etc…)
So, let’s break it down:
Contest Deadline: September 29th at 12 noon (Tokyo Time)
Prizes: One of three autographed paperback copies of my new book Loco in Yokohama
Winners will be selected randomly.
Winners will be announced via a posting here, and via the Loco in Yokohama Twitter, Facebook and Google+ pages on September 29th! (You will have 48 hours to respond to the announcement / notification and provide contact information and shipping details). If you fail to respond within 48 hours, you will forfeit your prize and it will be presented to another entry also chosen randomly.
It’s as easy as that. Share it as many times as you like on as many sites as you like. The more the merrier. Each share counts as an entry (but make sure I know about it!!!)
In the coming weeks I’ll be making the rounds, so please forgive me if you go from seeing very little of me to seeing quite a bit of me. Cuz, as my man Omar Little used to say on The Wire:
And, if you’re wondering what this next book is about, don’t worry. In the days to come I’ll be doing interviews, guest post, and dropping excerpts here and there, so you”ll be clued in before you know it if you stay tuned.
But, I will share with you a review I received from one of the five readers I’ve let get a whiff of what Loco’s got cooking. A writer we all know and love here in the Japan Blogosphere, by the name of Barry Lancet, who just happens to be dropping his own book on September 3rd. He says of Loco in Yokohama:
“ ‘Loco-sensei,’ as Baye McNeil is known, is the real thing—a teacher who loves what he does. These stories are an enchanting, warm-hearted romp through his experience of being a gaijin teacher at a Japanese school. If this book doesn’t charm you, you may no longer be among the living.”
—Barry Lancet, author of Japantown
I can’t wait to get my paws on Barry’s new book! I know it’s gonna be kick-ass! (Here are some of the early reviews on Amazon, if you’re interested: Japantown) Good Luck, Barry! Do us proud!
Anyway, that’s it for now. Comments on the cover art of my new book are welcomed. Actually I’m eager to hear your thoughts.
Don’t forget to SHARE.
Yoroshiku onegai shimasu.
Peace and Love,
